Well, this is the way I think: What are friends for but lovely being that are supposed to be there for you when in need and even when you need to joke about things, perhaps even chat. Aren't friends supposed to be those entities that make you the happiest, probably after a spouse or family, I would guess. But nevertheless, your friends are friends because they care about your welfare. And caring about another's welfare means being for them to cheer them up in some way or another.

I was thinking about you today. And I want to be your friend for all the right reasons. For a long time into the future, I don't want to see your pictures because I don't want to like you because of what you look like. For a long time into the future, I don't want to know if you are rich because I don't want to like you because of what you possess. For a long time into the future, I don't want to know if you are short or tall because I don't want to like you because of your height.
I want to judge you solely on how you treat people. I like you because you are nice to me and you are thoughtful.

You know, you have been one of those few people who actually sit down and ponder about a friendship. Most people I am friends with, or well acquaintances as I call them, (for I feel they aren't really friends) mostly befriend me for what I am and what I can do. Not who I am.
The importance is learning the impact a person has on you, whether it is good or bad. If one is a friend, there's an emotional attachment that goes well beyond one's outside carcass. If you can see into a person, and even from a comment or instant message you can tell the person is not well, or just bursting with exhilaration.. that is a friend. One who can read a person, cherish them, and appreciate them for what they feel for them, what they think of them and who the person really is.
I appreciate you wanting to judge me on who I am, not what I am or what I have. That is a genuine friendship, and I treasure that greatly. I want you to know that I too, won't judge you at all. I have built and am in the process of building my sentiments that revolve around our friendship, and I won't let petty things like appearance or wealth or race come into the way. For one, that is not fair. And two, if I did let them come in the way, that would mark me as one who built friendships out of interest, not affection.

I'll be sure to respond. I'm sorry I haven't done so by now. I'm not feeling at my highest for various reasons. I'll explain in an email or something. x_x
